1. Let affidavit-of-service, as filed in Court, be kept on record.

2. The petitioner is an third semester student in A. R.

Law College, affiliated to the Calcutta University. Petitioner's grievance is that she has to travel almost 280 K.Ms. every day to and fro from her residence to her college for pursuing her degree in law. She is ailing and unable to pursue her degree because of such distance.

3. Petitioner sought for and seeks a transfer to Sureswar Dutta Law College, respondent no. 5 herein.

4. Mr. Ghosh, learned Advocate appearing for the respondent no. 5, submits that there are five vacant seats in the third semester in the LLB course.

5. Mr. Chatterjee, learned Advocate appearing for the University, submits that there is, however, no such Rule for transfer but the matter can be considered if a proper representation is made by the petitioner appending the requisite documents regarding the transfer.

6. In view of the aforestated, the petitioner is directed to make a proper representation to the Secretary, Department of Law, University of Calcutta, by March 30, 2026.

7. The Secretary will consider and dispose of such representation by April 15, 2026, and if possible, permit the petitioner to be transferred to Sureswar Dutta Law College. If permitted, this shall not create any precedence.

8. With the aforestated directions, the writ petition is, thus, disposed of.

9. There shall, however, be no order as to costs.

10.Since no affidavit is called for, the allegations contained in the writ petition are deemed to be denied.

11.Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties on usual undertaking.
