Petitioners have prayed for expeditious disposal of North Port Police Station Case No. 48 dated 04.07.2019 which is pending before learned Metropolitan Magistrate, 18th Court, Calcutta.

Learned advocate appearing for the petitioners submits that the prosecution has relied upon five witnesses to prove its case, but till date complete examination of the first witness of the prosecution is not over.

In view of the limited number of witnesses so relied upon, I direct the learned trial court to fix at least one date in every two months so that trial of the case can be taken to its logical conclusion within a reasonable period of time. No unnecessary adjournment should be granted to either of the parties.

Learned public prosecutor conducting the case would ensure regarding the production of materials, documents and exhibits on the dates so fixed for examination of the witnesses.

All stakeholders should cooperate with the learned trial court to conclude the trial at the earliest.

It is further directed that the trial of the case would proceed and the learned advocates representing the respective parties would continue with the trial of the case in spite of any resolution of the local Bar.

With the aforesaid observations, the revisional application being CRR 801 of 2024 is disposed of. Pending connected application, if any, is consequently disposed of.

All concerned parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
