1. This writ petition has been filed praying for a direction to the authorities to immediately reopen Kankra Jr. High School at P.O.-Kankara Atmaram, P.S.-Debra, District-Paschim Medinipur and take steps to appoint permanent teachers by maintaining the pupil-teacher ratio.

The learned Government advocate has placed before this court a written instruction given by the District Inspector of Schools (SE), Paschim Medinipur dated 18th March, 2025, wherein it has been stated that the office of District Inspector of Schools (SE), Paschim Medinipur, in terms of Memo dated 23rd November, 2023 communicated the matter to the Commissioner of School Education, West Bengal for sanction of teaching post. That three posts of Assistant Teacher have been sanctioned by the Commissioner of School Education, West Bengal vide Memo dated 13th March, 2025 and the Member Secretary, Kankra Jr. High School has
been requested to take steps for filling up the said posts. Further in terms of order of the Dy. Director of School Education (JH), West Bengal, vide a Memo dated 13th March, 2025, the Member Secretary has been requested to arrange for appointing Guest Teacher/s in terms of Office Memo dated 12th March, and/or deploy eligible teachers from the neighbourhood schools vide Memo dated 18th March, 2025. Further, in terms of Memo dated 18th March, 2025, the District Inspector of Schools (SE), Paschim Medinipur has requested the Commissioner of School Education, West Bengal to depute one assistant teacher from Jhakra Jr. Girls' High School which is running teacher less.
3. In the light of the stand taken by the respondents, the said school will be functional from the next academic session, that is, from April/May, 2025. The submission made by the District Inspector of Schools (SE), Paschim Medinipur, is placed on record and the writ petition is disposed of by directing the District Inspector of Schools (SE), Paschim Medinipur, to ensure that all the directions are complied with before the next academic session commences.
4. Accordingly, the matter is disposed of.
5. No costs.
