By filing this writ petition, the petitioner has prayed for his release on parole to perform the rituals of the first death anniversary of his mother in Durgapur.

Mr. Sen, learned advocate representing the State submits that the petitioner has been recommended for a 14 hour emergency parole by the Superintendent of the Presidency Correctional Home before the appropriate authority.

Learned advocate for the petitioner submits that aforesaid time limit is too short to attend the ceremony in Durgapur and return back at Presidency Correctional Home.

Keeping in mind the distance between Kolkata and Durgapur and the unpredictable traffic situation , I find some justification in the stand of the petitioner. Therefore, I dispose of this writ petition by directing the Additional Director General and Inspector General of Correctional Home Services, West Bengal to grant a parole

of 18 hours to the petitioner to attend the death anniversary ceremony of his mother at Durgapur.

Needless to mention that the required number of police personnel shall be deputed by the competent authority to accompany the petitioner during the parole. All parties shall act on the basis of the website copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
