Petitioner is aggrieved by the issuance of notice under Section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure by the investigating officer being the Inspector, Crime associated with Varanasi Division. Learned advocate appearing for the Union of India submits that he has spoken with the investigating officer of the case and the investigating officer is ready and willing to come to West Bengal and interrogate the petitioner at his residence.

Accordingly, the petitioner is directed not to leave his residence, the address of which is provided in the cause title of the writ petition for next four weeks.

This order is being passed on the assurance of the learned advocate appearing for the Union of India without ascertaining regarding the maintainability of the writ petition and will not operate as precedent in other writ petitions.

With the aforesaid observations, the writ petition being WPA 5254 of 2025 is disposed of. There will be no order as to costs.

All concerned parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
