This is an application seeking an expeditious disposal of a complaint case under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act. Learned Counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner is the complainant in this case. He had filed the petition of complaint in January, 2019. However, till date the proceeding could not be concluded despite there being statutory stipulations for concluding the proceeding under the said Act expeditiously. Evidence has not commenced yet. The proceeding has remained pending for no fault on the part of the present petitioner.

I have heard the submissions of the learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner and have perused the revision petition. No prejudice will be caused to anyone, if a direction is passed in respect of a prayer to expedite the hearing of the case. There is indeed a statutory provision for concluding the proceeding under the Negotiable Instruments Act within a stipulated time. For a complaint that was lodged in January, 2019, even recording of evidence has not commenced as yet.

In view of the same and in the interest of justice, the learned Trial Court is requested to conclude the proceeding as expeditiously as possible without granting any unnecessary adjournment to any of the parties, preferably within a period of six months from the next date of hearing. With the above observations, the revisional application is

disposed of.
