The petitioner participated in the recruitment process of Primary School Teachers. In the merit list that was published a candidate by the same name as that of the petitioner, "Priyanka Karmakar" in the same caste category figures at serial number 99. Though the name and caste of the candidate are same as that of the petitioner but the Roll number is different.

Learned advocate representing the petitioner submits that there may be an error in the Roll number and due to the mismatch the petitioner may lose the chance of appointment.

The aforesaid contention of the petitioner has been disputed by the learned advocate representing the Board of Primary Education.

It has been submitted that the Roll number is the Unique Identification number of a candidate. It has been submitted that in fact there is a separate candidate with the Roll number as appearing in the merit list and she is the successful candidate. It has been submitted that the petitioner is an unsuccessful candidate and accordingly she cannot be provided appointment.

As it appears that the name along with the roll number of the petitioner is not included in the merit list, accordingly, her prayer for providing appointment cannot be accepted by the Court.

The writ petition fails and is hereby dismissed. Instruction given by the Board is retained with the records.
