From the submissions made by learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, it appears that the petitioner retired as a Librarian of the Jalalpur Bidhan Pathagar, Malda, on 31st January, 2021 and the gratuity and certain amount of pension due of the petitioner was paid on 11th January, 2022 and 1st February, 2022. There is hence delay of about 12 months. The petitioner prays for interest on the delayed payment of his retirement dues.
The State is represented.
Upon hearing learned counsel appearing for the parties, W.P.A.4888 of 2022 is allowed and disposed of by directing the Director of Pension, Provident Fund and Group Insurance, Government of West Bengal and the Treasury Officer, Malda being respondent nos.2 and 3 respectively to pay interest @ 8% per annum to the petitioner as held in other matters for the intervening
delay i.e. 12 months. The payment is to be released within a period of six weeks from date.
