The petitioner claims interest on delayed payment of arrears of pension. The petitioner retired from service on 31.01.2004. She deposited the employer's share of provident fund on 8th September, 2014. She was paid arrears of pension from date of retirement till on 2nd December, 2022.

This court in WPA 2889 of 2024 dated 15th April, 2024 (Swapan Kumar Chakraborty v. State of West Bengal and Others) decided that interest is payable on delayed payment of arrears of pension in similar facts and circumstances.

Let interest at the rate of 7% per annum be paid on the arrears of pension from the date of retirement i.e. 31.01.2004 till the date of actual payment within a period of two months from date.

Accordingly, the writ petition stands disposed of. There will be no order as to costs.
