Heard learned counsels for the parties.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody for about 70 days. Co-accused have been granted bail earlier. His further detention is not required and he shall cooperate in investigation, if released on bail. Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer for bail.

It appears that the petitioner is in custody for about 70 days. Co-accused have been granted bail earlier. The petitioner is the branch manager of South Indian Bank Limited, Bardhaman Birhata Branch, District - Purba Bardhaman. Investigation has proceeded to some extent.

Considering the material on record, this Court is of the view that further detention of the petitioner is not required and he may be released on bail subject to stringent condition. Accordingly, prayer for bail is allowed. The petitioner, Somnath Mukherjee, be released on bail upon furnishing bond of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only), with two sureties of like amount each, one of whom must be local, to the satisfaction of the learned Chief Judicial Magistrate, Purba Bardhaman subject to condition that he shall meet the Investigating Officer as and when required till submission of the charge sheet. The petitioner shall not intimidate witnesses or tamper with evidence in any manner whatsoever.

The application for bail is, thus, disposed of. Case Diary be returned.
