As none appears on behalf of the State, Ms.

Tuhina Parvin, learned advocate, who ordinarily appears for the State, is directed to represent the State. Her appointment may be regularised by the concerned authorities.

Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner is directed to serve a copy of the writ petition upon the learned advocate for the State.

The petitioner is aggrieved by the fact that in spite of information furnished to the Inspector-inCharge, Panskura Police Station on or about 03.02.2024, no steps have been taken by the police authorities. Learned advocate for the petitioner submits from the contents of the information so furnished, it would reveal that cognizable offence has been made out, still the police authorities have stayed away their hands.

Having regard to the fact that more than 14 months ago, information was furnished with the police authorities, I direct the petitioner to submit a

fresh representation within a fortnight from date. The police authorities on receipt of the information would take steps in accordance with law. If no steps are taken by the police authorities within a period of fortnight, thereafter the petitioner would be at liberty to approach the jurisdictional Magistrate under the relevant provisions of law. The learned Magistrate would assess the nature of the accusations made, ascertain whether a case for investigation is made out and thereafter take steps in accordance with law.

With the aforesaid observations, the writ petition being WPA 5431 of 2024 is disposed of. There will be no order as to costs.

All concerned parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
