The petitioner complains of alleged inaction on the part of the Burdwan Police Station in investigating into FIR being Burdwan PS Case No. 913 of 2022 dated 11.08.2022 as regards the missing girl Taniya Talukdar. The girl was 17 years of age when she went missing.

The Burdwan Police have filed a report dated April 3, 2023, which is kept with the record. 3.

The police submitted that the victim may have eloped with one Samir Kirtaniya. The writ petitioner is the uncle of the victim girl. She is presently in Bangladesh who is stated to have informed the Burdwan Police that the victim girl has voluntarily left her house and is living in Bangladesh with Samir Kirtaniya. The victim girl has also stated to the police that she wanted to

elope because her parents wanted to give her in marriage against her wishes to a third person. 4.

The police shall contact the victim girl in Bangladesh and the said Samir Kirtaniya and ensure that the petitioner is able to speak to his niece over telephone. It shall be informed that the victim girl can freely come back to India. Due protection shall be given to the victim girl and said Samir Kirtaniya, her partner and/or husband, if they want to live in India.

With the aforesaid observations, the instant writ petition shall stand disposed of.

There shall be no order as to costs.

All parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
