07.03.2024 Item No.33 Ct. No. 29 CHC Rejected C.R.M.(A) 751 of 2024 In Re:- An application for anticipatory bail under Section 438 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in connection with Chitpur Police Station Case No. 30 of 2024 dated 17.02.2024 under Sections 304B/34 of the Indian Penal Code.

And In the matter of : Tiyasa Poddar @ Tiyasa Poddar Mondal ...... petitioner Mr. D. Chatterjee, Mr. Asit Nayek ....for the petitioner Mr. Shibaji Kumar Das ....for the State Mr. Samanta Ganguly, Mr. Rajiv Lochan Chakraborty ....for the de facto complainant Petitioner, State and the de facto complainant are represented.

Apparently, the victim committed suicide at her matrimonial home within seven months of marriage.

Statements of the family members of the victim implicate the inlaws including the petitioner before us who is the married sister-in-law of the victim in physically and mentally torturing the victim and also in demanding dowry from her.

Considering the materials in the Case Diary, gravity of the offence and the involvement of the petitioner therein, we are unable to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner. This application for anticipatory bail is, thus, rejected. CRM(A) 751 of 2024 is disposed of.
