The petitioner is in custody for about 600 days and prays for bail.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that there is no evidence connecting him to the alleged offence. Charges are yet to be framed.

Opposing the prayer, learned counsel for the State submits that the victim was beaten to death by the petitioner who is her husband, in presence of the members of her paternal family at her parents' house. The petitioner threatened to murder the victim and committed such murder on the next date.

I have considered the material on record which suggests prima facie involvement of the petitioner in the alleged offence. It appears that the victim was assaulted to death by the petitioner on the relevant date. Allegation, if proved, shall attract mandatory life imprisonment.

Considering the material on record and gravity of the offence, the prayer for bail is rejected at this stage. The application for bail is disposed of.
