Saifuddin ...for the Petitioner Dr. Madhusudan Saha Roy, Mr. Debanjan Chatterjee ...for WBSEDCL 22-04-2025 AKG Ct. 15 The petitioner's domestic electricity connection was disconnected by the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) on the allegation of electricity theft in 2024. A final assessment order, claiming an amount of Rs. 53,531/-, was issued on May 9, 2024.

It is an undisputed fact that the petitioner deposited 50% of the final assessment amount on August 5, 2024, in order to secure his anticipatory bail.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner intends to deposit the remaining amount in two equal installments.

In view of the foregoing, this writ petition is disposed of with the following directions:

a) The petitioner shall deposit 50% of the remaining amount, i.e., Rs. 13,383/-, within the first week of June 2025.

b) The balance amount of Rs. 13,383/-, along with the reconnection charge, shall be paid in the first week of July 2025.

Upon the petitioner's compliance with these payments, WBSEDCL shall restore the electricity connection immediately.

Accordingly, WPA 5629 of 2025 is disposed of. Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
