This is an application seeking an expeditious disposal of a proceeding in which a charge sheet was submitted under Sections 21(c) of the NDPS Act.

Affidavit-of-service filed by the petitioner is taken on record.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner is an accused in this case. He is in custody since his date of arrest i.e. 21.07.2019. Although the case was started in July, 2019 and the charge sheet was submitted in August, 2019, till date even charges could not be framed. The next date is fixed as 16.04.2021 for production and framing of charge. The proceeding has largely remained pending for no fault of the present petitioner.

Learned counsel for the State submits that the impugned proceeding may be expedited in the interest of justice. I have heard the submissions of the learned counsels appearing on behalf of the petitioner and the State and have perused the revision petition.

It appears that the some delay was occasioned in concluding the impugned proceeding, especially considering the

fact that the petitioner is in custody since 21.07.2019. In view of the above and in the interest of justice, I request the learned trial court to conclude the proceeding as expeditiously as possible without granting any unnecessary adjournment to any of the parties and in particular, to decide the question of framing of charge on the next date fixed for hearing, preferably on the next date of hearing or within a fortnight from such date.

With these observations, the revisional application is disposed of.
