The petitioner seeks parity with co-accused Bapi Laskar @ Bapi Majumdar who has been granted bail earlier. Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer and submits that the petitioner was absconding from 2019 to 2024 after which he was brought on arrest. Progress in trial suffered due to ascendence of the petitioner.

Considering the conduct of the petitioner, this Court is not inclined to release the petitioner at this stage lest he absconds again and causes further delay in progress in trial. Accordingly, the prayer for bail is rejected at this stage. The application for bail is disposed of.
