Heard learned counsels for the parties.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody for more than a year. He has no nexus with the alleged offence and prays for bail. Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer. It appears that the petitioner is a member of a gang allegedly engaged in trafficking. The victim is yet to be recovered.

The petitioner has been absconding since 2008 and was arrested only in 2024. With regard to stage of trial, 4 out of 10 witnesses have been examined till date. Considering the material on record suggesting prima facie involvement of the petitioner in the alleged offence and also the fact that the petitioner may further abscond if released on bail at this stage, prayer for bail is rejected at this stage.

The application for bail is thus disposed of.
