Balial ... for the State-respondent(s) Learned advocate for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody for about nine months and the allegations are recovery of 305 gm of brown sugar from the possession of the present petitioner. It is also submitted that the prosecution has relied upon 12 witnesses in order to prove its case, as such, there is no scope of the trial being concluded in the near future. He prays that the petitioner may be enlarged on bail.
Learned advocate for the State opposes the prayer for bail and submits that charges have been framed and the prosecution would put in efforts to take the trial to its logical conclusion.
Having considered the quantum of seizure, at this stage, I am not inclined to enlarge the petitioner on bail.
Hence, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is Rejected.
Accordingly, CRM(NDPS) 458 of 2026 is dismissed. Pending application(s), if any, is also disposed of. Parties to act on a server copy of this order duly collected from the official website of the Hon'ble High Court, Calcutta.
