Learned counsel for the petitioner is in custody for more than a year. Trial has not commenced. His further detention is not required. He prays for bail.

Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer. I have considered the material on record. Statement of eye witness implicates the petitioner in the offence. The petitioner was one of the assailants who physically assaulted the victim resulting in his death. One of the offending weapons was recovered from the petitioner's house pursuant to his leading statement. Considering the gravity of the offence as well as prima facie involvement of the petitioner therein, prayer for bail is rejected at this stage.

The application for bail is disposed of.
