The petitioner is aggrieved by the inaction on the part of the Bhagwanpur Police Station. Investigations into several offences were initiated by the said Police Station vide FIR no. 192 of 2021 dated June 25, 2021 and FIR no. 97 of 2022 dated March 15, 2022.

According to the petitioner, one Santosh Prodhan was the accused in respect of FIR no. 192 of 2021. He was denied anticipatory bail, but no arrest had been made. The petitioner further submits that repeated offences were committed by the said accused, which resulted in Bhagwanpur Police Station case no.97 of 2022.

Records reveal that some of the accused persons have been released on bail, but the police authorities have not yet arrested Santosh Pradhan.

Serious allegations have been levelled against the authorities of Bhagwanpur Police Station to the

effect that although Santosh Pradhan was roaming around scot free in the locality, the police authorities were not apprehending him.

The Officer-in-Charge, Bhagwanpur Police Station files a report, from which it appears that the said Santosh Prodhan was absconding.

The Investigating Officer prayed before the learned Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Contai, Purba Medinipore for issuance of warrant of a arrest against the accused in order to compel him to appear before the learned Court. The report further indicates that the investigations with regard to Bhagwanpur Police Station cases were in progress.

Having considered the allegations of the petitioner and the report submitted by the police authorities, this Court is of the view that expeditious steps must be taken by the investigating agency in order to ensure that the investigation moves in right direction and if the warrant is issued by the learned Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Contai, Purba Medinipore, on the prayer of the police, the same shall be executed expeditiously.

The superintendent of Police, Purba Medinipore, shall monitor the entire investigation in order to ensure that prompt action is taken by the concerned investigating officers in the matters and the same are concluded within a period of three months from date.

Accordingly, this writ petition is disposed of. However, there will be no order as to costs.

All the parties are directed to act on the basis of the server copy of this order.
