Mr. Arun Kumar Das Mr. Deba Prasad Samanta ..for the petitioner Mr. Ansar Mondal Ms. Srilekha Bhattacharya ..for the State The petitioner seeks a change in the name of a Shishu Shiksha Kendra in honour of his late father. It is the petitioner's case that he had gifted a parcel of land measuring approximately six decimals in favour of the Shishu Shiksha Kendra, subject to the condition that the institution would be renamed in accordance with his suggestion. However, the deed of gift, as annexed to the writ petition, does not disclose the existence of any such condition. Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner has, nevertheless, drawn the attention of this Court to a resolution dated May 19, 2017, adopted by the concerned Gram Panchayat, namely Kendemari Jalpai Gram Panchayat, to indicate that a decision was taken to change the name of the institution from Shyamasundari Chak Shishu Shiksha Kendra to Shyamasundari Chak Benimadhab Pramanik Shishu Shiksha Kendra.
Further attention of this Court has been drawn to a recommendation dated March 23, 2018, made by the Secretary of the said Gram Panchayat to the Mission Director, Paschim Banga Rajya Shishu Shiksha Mission, recommending the change of the name of the Shishu Shiksha Kendra as aforesaid. In the aforesaid factual context, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction upon the Mission Director, Paschim Banga Rajya Shishu Shiksha Mission, respondent no. 3, to consider the representation dated December 16, 2024, seeking change of the name of the Shishu Shiksha Kendra, in accordance with law, within a period of three months from the date of communication of this order. Accordingly, WPA 5682 of 2025 stands disposed of.
