Despite service, none appears on behalf of any of the respondents.

Affidavit-of-service as also the supplementary affidavit are taken on record.

The petitioner alleges that the Officer-in-Charge, Cossipore Police Station has not taken appropriate steps in the pending investigation arising out of Cossipore Police Station Case No.35 dated March 21, 2022 under Section 3(1)(r)(s) of the SC & ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989 read with Sections 506/114 of the Indian Penal Code and under Section 25(IB)(a) of the Arms Act. It appears that the Assistant Commissioner of Police (III&A), North & North Suburban Division, 113, APC Road, Kolkata-700009, had also asked the petitioner to meet the said authority, for the purpose of investigation.

The petitioner submits that not only is the investigation slow, but the accused persons who have past

criminal records, are continuously threatening the petitioner.

Under such circumstances, as the Assistant Commissioner of Police (III&A), North & North Suburban Division is already apprised of the pending case and has met the petitioner for the purpose of investigation, the said authority shall be approached by the petitioner with his grievances and prayer for protection. It is expected that necessary care shall be taken so that the investigation may proceed quickly independently and be concluded, if not already done. The authority shall also ensure that the petitioner is not caused further harm, in future. The petitioner is directed to serve a copy of this order along with a copy of this writ petition upon the Assistant Commissioner of Police (III&A), North & North Suburban Division, for necessary compliance.

The writ petition is, thus, disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.

All parties are to act on the basis of the server copy of this order.
