The grievance of the petitioner is that the petitioner's application for a new service connection at the petitioner's premises has not yet been decided upon by the Calcutta Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (in short 'CESC Limited').

Learned counsel appearing for the CESC Limited submits that the petitioner applied for a new service connection on November 20, 2021 and on November 27, 2021 itself, the CESC Limited had intimated the petitioner as to their objection in giving such second service connection at the same premises on technical ground. However, it is fairly submitted by learned counsel for the CESC Limited that, subject to the petitioner complying with all formalities, the CESC Limited has no objection in principle to give a new connection to the petitioner at the premises-in-question.

In such view of the matter, WPA 5363 of 2022 is disposed of by granting liberty to the petitioner to make an application for a fresh electric meter to the CESC Limited.

If so approached, the CESC Limited shall decide the feasibility of the same and, in the event of compliance of all due formalities by the petitioner, the CESC Limited shall give such connection to the petitioner as expeditiously as possible.

There will be no order as to costs.

Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
