And In the matter of: Madhusudan Ghosh @ Madhu Ghosh ... petitioner Mr. Amanul Islam Mr. Sourav Mukherjee Mr. Raja Das ... for the petitioner Ms. Shaila Afrin Ms. Sana Naaz ... for the State Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is the father-in-law of the alleged victim. The marriage took place about six years ago. The husband was arrested and he is still in custody.

Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer for anticipatory bail and relies on the post-mortem report and the statements of witnesses including neighbours. It appears that the petitioner stands on a similar footing as the husband of the alleged victim.

Considering the above and the other materials available in the case diary, I do not consider this to be a fit case for granting anticipatory bail.

The application for anticipatory bail is, thus, rejected.
