It is the grievance of the petitioners that though they applied for a separate water supply connection (ICI connection) at their premises and deposited the required fees, the Corporation could not effect the water supply connection at their premises.
On behalf of the Corporation, it has been submitted that the Water Supply Department had issued an order for execution of the work, but they have been restrained by the other occupiers of the premises.
On behalf of the added respondent, which is the owners' welfare association of the relevant premises, it has
been submitted that the association has no objection if the water supply connection is effected at the premises of the petitioner.
In view of the aforesaid facts, I do not see any justification to keep this writ petition pending. This writ petition is disposed of with a direction upon the Kolkata Municipal Corporation to effect the water supply connection at the premises of the petitioners within one month from the date of communication of this order, subject to compliance of all necessary formalities by the petitioner. The officer-in-charge of Gariahat Police Station shall render necessary assistance to the Corporation, if necessary.
WPA 6123 of 2024 is disposed of.
