1. It is submitted on behalf of the petitioner that he is in custody for over 200 days. It is further submitted allegations against the petitioner are general and omnibus. He has been falsely implicated. Accordingly, he prays for bail.

2. Learned Advocate for the State opposes the prayer for bail and submits bail prayer of co-accused viz. Sukamal Bhunia was turned down by this court in December, 2023.

3. Learned Advocate for the de-facto complainant also opposes the prayer for bail.

4. We have considered the materials on record. Statements of eyewitnesses show petitioner and others had assaulted the victim. They have been specifically named by eyewitnesses. In view of the aforesaid materials on record and gravity of offence, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner at this stage.
