It appears that, based on allegations of electricity theft, three consecutive final assessment orders have been issued by CESC Ltd., amounting to a total sum of ₹24,25,116/-.

The writ petition involves several disputed questions of fact.

Without treating this as a precedent, the petitioner is directed to deposit 50% of the assessed amount of ₹24,25,116/- within two weeks from the date of this order, along with the applicable reconnection charges and other incidental costs.

Upon such deposit, CESC Ltd. shall forthwith restore the electricity connection of the petitioner. It is noted that the three final assessments were made on 5th October 2023, 18th December 2024, and 19th March 2025. The petitioner denies having received

service of the first two assessment orders but acknowledges receipt of the last one.

CESC Ltd., however, contends that all three final assessment orders were duly served upon the petitioner. In view of the foregoing, liberty is granted to the petitioner to challenge all three assessment orders, as indicated above, before the appellate forum in accordance with law, within a period of two weeks from the date of this order.

If such an appeal is filed, it shall be adjudicated in accordance with law.

Accordingly, WPA 5756 of 2025 is disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties upon compliance of all formalities.
