The limited grievance of the petitioner is that the petitioner was not able to deposit the charges online for getting a new electricity connection from the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL).

Learned counsel appearing for the WBSEDCL places reliance on Annexure P/2, at page 57 of the writ petition where it is indicated that quotation money may be deposited by online or in cash/draft/banker's cheque in favour of the WBSEDCL. Hence, it is argued that there was no occasion for such apprehension of the petitioner that the WBSEDCL will not accept cash as quotation money.

Be that as it may, since learned counsel for the petitioner submits that in the meantime the petitioner

has deposited the quotation money by cash with the WBSEDCL and the same has been accepted, there cannot be any further issue involved in the pending litigation.

Accordingly, W.P.A. No. 5947 of 2023 is disposed of by directing the WBSEDCL to give a new electricity connection to the petitioner, subject to compliance of all formalities by the petitioner, as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a fortnight from the date of compliance of all formalities by the petitioner. There will be no order as to costs.

Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance of all necessary formalities.
