The Government of West Bengal acquired lands for reconstruction of AILA affected Sundarban embankment. The Government by a Notification No. 5504-LA/II147/11(Pt.) dated October 10, 2012 has adopted a policy to provide rehabilitation/settlement/ compensation to the persons who were in occupation of such lands. The petitioners are claiming that the lands under their possession have been taken away in execution of the said work and they have given a representation to the Special Land Acquisition Officer, Alipore, District 24 Parganas (South), the respondent no. 3 herein to get the benefit of the said notification.

The petitioners are praying for a direction upon the said respondent for disposal of their said representation. W.P.A. 6784 of 2021 is disposed of by directing the respondent no. 3 to consider and dispose of the said representation of the petitioners appearing at page 29 of the writ petition being 'Annexure P-4' in accordance with law by a reasoned order expeditiously, preferably within a period of twelve weeks from the date of communication of

this order, if necessary, after giving the petitioners an opportunity of being heard.

The petitioners are required to serve a complete copy of the writ petition upon the said respondent within a week from date.

Since no affidavit-in-opposition has been invited the allegations made in the writ petition are deemed to have been denied by the respondents.

No order as to costs.
