-vsThe State of West Bengal & ors.
Mr. Ziaul Haque Mr. Himadri Kumar Mahata ...for the petitioners Mr. Amitesh Banerjee Mr. Tarak Karan ...for the State Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioners ssi Ct. 14 submits as follows. The petitioners are the owners of the property in question. They were accused of murder of a person that took place in the locality. The private respondents are other local villagers who were preventing them from returning to their own residence after they came out on bail in connection with the case. On a representation made before the police authorities, the police authorities have escorted them back to their residence. The police are now observing the situation by posting a police picket. Learned senior standing counsel representing the State submits that upon the prayer of the petitioners, they were escorted back to their own residence. The police have posted a picket. However, a direction may be passed only to keep a strict vigil.
It appears that the prime grievance of the petitioners has already been redressed.
Let the police picket remain at the place for a fortnight. Thereafter, the police shall keep a sharp vigil at the locale and ensure that no breach of peace takes place. The surveillance shall include visits by police patrol. With these observations, the writ petition is disposed of.
Urgent photostat certified copy of this order be supplied to the parties, if applied for, as early as possible. (Jay Sengupta, J.)
