The writ petitioners claim to have taken land on lease for setting up a poultry farm, from the private respondent. The lease has expired and the private respondent is seeking to re-enter the said land. Counsel for the petitioners now submits that the land belongs to the Irrigation Department.

This Court sees that the dispute, if any, is purely civil in nature and the police have no role to play in the matter.

In that view of the matter, the Block Land & Land Reforms Officer, Tamluk, Purba Medinipur may enquire into the ownership of land in question situated and lying at Mouza - Sayedpur, J.L. No. 139, Plot Nos. 846 and 848 of an area of 16 decimals of land under

Police Station Tamluk, District - Purba Medinipur and take suitable steps in accordance with law.

The writ petition shall stand disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.

All parties are directed to act on a server copy of this order on usual undertakings.
