1. The petitioner claims to be a tenant in respect of a ground floor flat and two other flats on the fourth floor of premises no. F-12, Sahi Astabol, P.S. Garden Reach, Kolkata - 700024 (in short the "said premises").

2. According to the petitioner, the petitioner is not receiving water supply as the landlord of the said premises being the respondent nos. 6 to 8 are not making available basic facility including supply of water to the petitioner. The petitioner insists that the Corporation should provide separate water supply connection to the petitioner's flat.

Having heard the learned advocates appearing for the respective parties and noting that the petitioner is a tenant in respect of three flats in a multistoried building and upon ascertaining from the municipal authorities that the building has a regular supply of water, in my view there is no scope to direct the municipal authorities to

provide an additional supply of water to the petitioner's flat, in ordinary circumstances.

However, considering the fact that supply of water is essential for livelihood, in my view, the municipal authorities should enquire into the matter and if necessary, issue appropriate directions upon the private respondents to cause such repairs as may be necessary for the purpose of ensuring effective supply of water to the petitioner who is a resident of the aforesaid premises.

5. Accordingly, I direct the municipal authorities to carry out an inspection in the said premises and file a report before this Court when the matter is taken up next.

6. Let it be noted that in the event it is detected that supply of water to the petitioner's premises has been withheld, appropriate steps must be taken by the municipal authorities in this regard to ensure supply of water to the petitioner's premises.

7. List this matter in the combined monthly list of December 2025.
