For the CESC The grievance of the petitioner is directed against the refusal of the CESC Authorities to provide the petitioner with a fresh electricity connection.

The CESC is represented and submits that they have no objection in providing such connection but the private respondents had created hindrance and/or obstruction to the representatives of the CESC authorities.

Pursuant to an earlier direction the petitioner served the private respondent. However, none appears on behalf of the private respondent.

In view of the fact that the petitioner seeks an essential service, I am of the view that the CESC shall provide the petitioner with an electricity connection subject to the petitioner complying with all necessary formalities and making all payments in accordance with law. I make it clear that the new connection is to be provided to the petitioner would be from the existing connection at the subject premises.

The respondent No. 5 being the police authorities are directed to give all necessary assistance to the representatives of the CESC to effect the fresh electricity connection to the petitioner. It is needless to mention that the petitioner will make all payments of necessary costs including those raised for police assistance.

The aforesaid exercise shall be completed within a period of four weeks from date.

With the aforesaid directions, W.P.A. 6970 of 2021 is disposed of.
