The petitioner is in custody for about one year and eight months and prays for bail.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner has been diagonized with tuberculosis and requires regular medical attendance.

Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer and submits that 10 out of 24 witnesses have already been examined. I have considered the material on record. The petitioner is the sole accused and prima facie appears to be responsible for the incident.

Considering the material on record, the prayer for bail is rejected at this stage.

The Superintendent, Berhampore District Correctional Home is directed to render all medical assistance to the petitioner as and when required.

Learned trial Court is directed to take the proceeding to its logical conclusion as expeditiously as possible, without granting any

unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties, in accordance with law.

The application for bail is disposed of.
