On 26.06.2024 the petitioner became eligible for the third promotion, but the same has not been granted to him. Reliance is placed on Memorandum dated 17.04.1990 of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal and Memo No.2426(6)Edn(U) dated 17.10.1985 of the Education Department, Government of West Bengal. In view of the same, the representation was made by the petitioner before the Registrar of the University on 17.03.2025, but the same has not been considered as yet. Learned counsel for the University submits that in the event a representation is pending consideration, the

same would be considered in accordance with law and as per relevant notifications.

The State is represented.

In view of the above, let the representation of the petitioner dated 17.03.2025 be considered by the Registrar of the Calcutta University in accordance with law and as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of eight weeks from the date of communication of this order. Within a week thereafter, the outcome of such consideration shall be intimated to the petitioner. It is made clear that the merits of the case have not been gone into.

With these observations, the writ petition is disposed of.

As affidavits were not called for, the allegations made are deemed not to have been admitted.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance of all requisite formalities.
