Report submitted by the State is taken on record. The petitioner is in custody for more than a year and prays for bail.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is not connected to the alleged murder in any manner. The case is based on circumstantial evidence.

Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer. I have considered the material on record. Out of 20 witnesses 15 witnesses have already been examined and the prosecution expects to conclude the witness action before the ensuing annual vacation.

On merits, the palm impression of the petitioner has matched with the palm impression taken from the place of occurrence. It is a case of gruesome murder of a lady. The petitioner is in custody for more than a year. Offence, if proved, shall attract mandatory life imprisonment.

Considering the gravity of the offence and prima facie involvement of the petitioner therein, prayer for bail is rejected at this stage.

Learned trial Court is directed to expedite the trial without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties, in the light of the submission made on behalf of the State. The application for bail is disposed of.
