Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits that, in compliance with the order dated May 1, 2025, the said order was duly communicated to respondent nos. 4 and 5.

However, respondent nos. 4 and 5 are not represented before this Court.

The petitioner seeks a commercial electricity connection for his shop premises located at Plot No. 1807, J.L. No. 62, Mouza-Kurkura, P.S.-Galsi, District-Purba Bardhaman.

The West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) submits that the electricity connection may be granted, subject to the petitioner's compliance with all requisite formalities.

It is further submitted that the concerned shop premises were found to be locked, and, as such, police assistance will be necessary to break open the padlock for installation of the electricity meter.

In light of the above, the writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the WBSEDCL to effect the electricity connection to the petitioner's shop premises within a period of three weeks from the date of this order, subject to due compliance with all formalities by the petitioner. The Officer-in-Charge, Galsi Police Station, is directed to provide necessary assistance to the officials of the WBSEDCL, at the cost of the petitioner. The police shall also be at liberty to break open the padlock of the meter room, if required, for the purpose of facilitating the connection.

It is made clear that the grant of electricity connection shall not confer any equitable right whatsoever in favour of the petitioner.

Accordingly, WPA 6406 of 2025 is disposed of. Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
