Re : CAN 1 of 2019 (old No.CAN 6655 of 2019) This is an application for modification of the order passed on 7th September, 2018 with regard to reduction in the rate of interest that has been prescribed by the Court.

Upon perusal of the materials on record, it is clear that the higher rate of interest, that is, 18% p.a. was prescribed because of the callous attitude of the authorities.

In light of the same, I see no merit in this application and the same is dismissed.

In light of the above order passed rejecting the application for modification of the stay, the respondent authorities are directed to make payment of interest at 18% p.a. within a period of three weeks from date.

Affidavit of compliance to be filed on the returnable date.

I have been given to understand that the gratuity amount has already been paid to the petitioner. Let the matter appear three weeks hence.
