Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that, pursuant to the liberty previously granted by this Court on March 31, 2023, the petitioner has made an application for electricity connection in appropriate format. A supplementary affidavit in that regard is filed in court, which be kept on record.

Learned counsel appearing for the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) submits that the writ petition is not maintainable and is premature, since no application had been filed in appropriate format by the writ petitioner prior to the writ being moved.

A perusal of the supplementary affidavit indicates clearly that the petitioner has, pursuant to the leave granted vide order dated March 31, 2023, already made an application for new electricity connection.

Hence, WPA No. 6571 of 2023 is disposed of by directing the WBSEDCL to process the said application filed by the petitioner by taking appropriate steps thereon as soon as possible and to raise the necessary estimate within a week from date. Upon such estimate being raised and upon compliance of all formalities and payments by the petitioner, the electricity connection shall be given to the petitioner, if otherwise feasible in law, within a fortnight from the date of compliance of formalities by the petitioner.

There will be no order as to costs.

Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
