1. Affidavit of service filed on behalf of the petitioner is taken on record.
2. Petitioner lodged a complaint with Daspur Police Station, Paschim Medinipur on 18th February, 2026 as the married daughter of the petitioner went missing on self same date i.e. 18th February, 2026.
3. It is submitted that concerned police authorities are not taking effective steps based on a complaint of the petitioner dated 18th February, 2026 prompting the petitioner to approach this Court with the present writ petition.
4. Petitioner prays for direction which would result in finding of whereabouts of the daughter of the petitioner who went missing at an early date.
5. Learned advocate representing the State has submitted a communication dated 24th March, of Officer-in-Charge, Daspur Police Station, Paschim Medinipur along with supporting documents those are taken on record. Copy of said communication along with documents are made over to the learned advocate representing the petitioner.
6. It is disclosed in the communication dated 24th March, 2026 that based on the complaint of the petitioner criminal prosecution being Daspur Police Station Case No. 124/26 dated 23rd March, 2026 under certain provision of BNS is initiated.
One Sub-Inspector is entrusted to investigate the case. It is also stated in the communication dated 24th March, 2026 that steps are being taken in connection with the investigation of the criminal prosecution being Daspur Police Station Case No. 124/26 dated 23rd March, 2026.
7. It appears at the time of filing of the writ petition on 18th March, 2026 though FIR was not registered but subsequently on 23rd March, 2026 FIR was registered.
8. Concerned police authorities are directed to take the investigation to its logical conclusion at an early date in accordance with law.
9. Writ petition stands disposed of.
10. Leave is granted to the petitioner to approach the jurisdictional Magistrate if occasion so arises in future.
11. Urgent photostat certified copy of the order, if applied for, be given to the parties, upon usual undertakings.
