Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that the petitioner was not named in the first information report. The petitioner came to know of the present police case on receipt of a phone call on March 21, 2022 from the local police station.

Learned advocate appearing for the State submits that the police case is of 2014 with the charge sheet in respect thereof being submitted on June 26, 2015. The petitioner is named in the charge sheet. The petitioner was absconding all this while.

Considering the gravity of the offence and the involvement of the petitioner therein and considering the long absconsion of the petitioner, we are not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner.

Prayer for anticipatory bail of the petitioner is rejected.

CRM (A) 1662 of 2022 is dismissed.
