Despite service, none appears on behalf of the respondents.

As the court is not inclined to interfere with the order dated November 23, 2021, issued by the Block Development Officer, Mathurapur-I Development Block by which the respondent no. 9 was engaged as a VRP Supervisor for Mathurapur Paschim Gram Panchayat, the writ petition is taken up in the absence of the respondents.

The petitioner claims to have been working as a VRP Supervisor for Mathurapur Paschim Gram Panchayat. He was allegedly removed from such position without any reason and without initiation of any proceeding. Subsequently, the respondent no. 9 was engaged as a VRP Supervisor in the said gram panchayat.

It appears that the Block Development Officer, Mathurapur-I Development Block issued the order

impugned, pursuant to a letter issued by the Pradhan, Mathurapur Paschim Gram Panchayat dated November 1, 2021. Such order was issued for smooth implementation of VBDCP and in the interest of public service.

From the records, the court is unable to ascertain whether the petitioner had discharged his duties as a VRP Supervisor diligently or not and also whether the petitioner was removed for sufficient cause.

The writ petition is disposed of with a direction upon the Block Development Officer, Mathurapur-I Development Block to intimate the petitioner the reasons as to why the respondent no. 9 was engaged as a VRP Supervisor for Mathurapur Paschim Gram Panchayat in place of the petitioner.

Such intimation must be sent within a period of eight weeks from the date of communication of this order.

This court has not gone into the merits of the claim of the petitioner. The correctness of the allegations made in the writ petition have not been decided.

The Block Development Officer shall give a hearing to the petitioner, to the respondent no.9 as also to the pradhan of the concerned gram panchayat

and pass an order in respect of the allegations made in the writ petition.

A copy of the writ petition along with a server copy of this order be served upon the Block Development Officer, Mathurapur-I Development Block, for necessary compliance.

Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of. However, there will be no order as to costs.

All the parties are directed to act on the basis of the server copy of this order.
