The petitioner seeks appointment on compassionate ground in died-in-harness category. Petitioner's mother was serving as a Group-D employee of Chandidas Mahavidyalaya, District-Birbhum. She died-in-harness on 04.11.2018. The petitioner made an application before the Principal of the said college on 29.11.2018 seeking appointment. A representation was thereafter made by the petitioner to the Director of Public Instruction on 11.03.2020.

The petitioner alleges that none of the representations have been considered by the respondents till date.

As it appears that the application filed by the petitioner has been kept pending for no plausible reason accordingly,the instant writ petition is disposed of by directing the respondent no. 3 i.e., the College to forward the application made by the petitioner to the respondent

no. 2, Director of Public Instruction immediately. The respondent no. 2 shall take a decision in the matter, in accordance with law, at the earliest, but positively within a period of eight weeks from the receipt of the documents from the College. The respondent no. 2 shall pass a reasoned order and communicate the same to the petitioner immediately thereafter.

The respondent authorities shall keep in mind that the matter relates to compassionate appointment and the same has to be treated on urgent basis to help the family to overcome the financial crisis suffered on account of the death of the bread winner.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon completion of usual legal formalities.
