This is an application for a direction upon the first Court of appeal for expeditious disposal of criminal appeal No.16 of 2020 under Section 29 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act pending before the learned Additional Sessions Judge, Fast Track, 2nd Court at Paschim Medinipur.

The petitioner is the aggrieved person in favour of whom an order under Section 12 of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act was passed. The husband of the petitioner filed an appeal under Section 29 of the PDWV Act before the learned Sessions Judge, Paschim Medinipur which was registered as Criminal Appeal No.16 of 2020. About 3 years

have elapsed but the learned Court of Appeal failed to dispose of the said appeal during this time. The appeal is still pending. The learned Additional Sessions Judge, Fast Track, 2nd Court at Paschim Medinipur is directed to dispose of Criminal Appeal No.16 of 2020 positively within two months from the date of this order by hearing argument of both the parties and passing a reasoned judgment.
