The State of West Bengal Mr. Sumanta Chakraborty ... for the petitioner This is an application wherein petitioner has prayed for expeditious disposal of G.R. Case No.1230 of 2023 presently pending before learned 1st Judicial Magistrate, Barasat. It is submitted on behalf of the petitioner that the complaint was lodged on 20th March, 2023 and thereafter charge-sheet was submitted on 8th September, 2023 against the accused persons. Copies were also supplied to the accused persons on 24.01.2024 and since that date the case is pending for charge hearing. It is further submitted that on 9th March, 2026 is fixed for charge hearing.

Learned Counsel for the petitioner prays for a direction upon the Court below to expedite the charge hearing.

Since the prayer made by the petitioner is innocuous and if allowed in terms of the prayer, the opposite party will have no cause to prejudice and, as such, service of copy of application upon the opposite party is dispensed with.

Having heard learned Counsel for the petitioner and that the prayer made by the petitioner is justified in terms of its long pendency, the instant application being CRR 1409 of 2025 is hereby disposed of with a direction upon the Court below to make charge hearing on the date fixed, i.e. on 9th March, 2026 or preferably within a period of two weeks thereafter in accordance with law.
