1. Heard learned lawyers for the parties.

2. We have considered the materials on record. Petitioner had absconded for a protracted period of time. His bail application has been rejected earlier on merits. Trial has substantially progressed. Prosecution assures this court trial shall be concluded within one year from the next date fixed for recording evidence subject to cooperation by defence and systemic delay. Offences if proved would attract mandatory life imprisonment.

3. Under such circumstances, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner.

4. Accordingly, prayer for bail is rejected.
