Heard the learned Counsels appearing on behalf of the parties.

Petitioner is in custody for over 10 years. He prays for bail.

Learned Advocate appearing for the State opposes the prayer for bail and submits that the trial is at its fag end. We note that the examination of the witnesses are complete.

In view of the aforesaid fact and the gravity of the offence, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner. Accordingly, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected.

However, bearing in mind the protracted period of under trial detention, we direct the trial court to conclude the trial within three months from the next date fixed before it without granting unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties. (Suvra Ghosh,J.) (Joymalya Bagchi, J.)
