The petitioner claims interest on delayed payment of terminal benefits.

The petitioner superannuated from service of the WBTCL on July 31, 2014. He received his terminal benefits of Rs.9,16,537/- towards provident fund on 11.11.2014 and Rs. 6,27,931/- towards gratuity and leave encashment on 06.07.2015.

The petitioner is entitled to interest for the period from 01.08.2014 to 11.11.2014 at the rate of 6 per cent per annum towards provident fund and from 01.08.2014 to 06.07.2015 at the rate of 6 per cent per annum towards gratuity and leave encashment. Let the same be paid to the petitioner

by the WBTCL within a period of one month from date.

In default of payment as directed above, the rate of interest shall stand increased to 9 per cent per annum.

The writ petition is disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.
