12.05.2022 TN WPA No.7001 of 2022 Monu Kumar and another Vs.

CESC Limited and others Mr. Bidyut Kr. Halder, Mr. Indranil Halder .... for the petitioners Ms. A. Rao, Ms. S. Tibrewal .... for the CESC Limited Learned counsel for the petitioners contends that the CESC Limited has refused to give electricity connection to the petitioner despite the petitioners having applied for the same.

Learned counsel appearing for the CESC Limited contends that, due to safety reasons, no further connection can be given at the premises-inquestion, including a new connection to the petitioner. However, it is submitted by learned counsel for the CESC Limited that the CESC Limited shall consider in accordance with law the feasibility of giving a new connection to the tenants upon

installation of a block meter if the tenants file a joint application before the CESC Limited in that regard. In such view of the matter, WPA No.7001 of 2022 is disposed of by granting leave to the petitioners to apply jointly with other occupants of the premisesin-question for taking electricity connection via a block meter. If so applied, the CESC Limited shall consider such application in accordance with law. There will be no order as to costs.

Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
